The Canon imageClass D1650 is a monochrome all-in-one laser printer that is made for small volume and medium volume printing, faxing, scanning and copying in a small office or small workgroup setting. It is very fast, its print quality is good overall, and it has a massive paper capacity of 650 sheets out of the box and a high monthly duty cycle to back it up. Also available from the control panel is the D1650’s Application Library, which allows you to create seven different one-touch buttons to execute the following functions: Consumables Information for toner and paper status, Copy for economic mode, Copy for bleed reduce, ID Card Copy, Print Template, Scan-to-Preset Destination, and Standby Slide on the screensaver. The D1650 can print around a 12-page Microsoft Word test document in simplex mode at the rate of 44.8 pages per minute or ppm, or just 0.1ppm off from its 45ppm rating. The laser printer can print the same document in duplex mode at 35.9 images per minute.
The D1650’s output quality is very impressive. Text is near-typesetter quality, well-shaped and highly legible down to the smallest font, you can see without magnification. The charts and graphs in our test Excel documents and PowerPoint handouts came out with only minimal banding in dark fills and backgrounds and light, hardly noticeable stepping from tone to tone in gradients.
